Time Difference: Nov until Mar GMT+2, Apr until Oct GMT+3.
Currency: Euro €.
Credit Cards: Accepted in large shops, some restaurants, car hire & hotels. Many smaller shops, bars, traditional taverns and taxi’s do not. Always have some cash with you.
Tipping: 2-5% of your bill, Porters 2-3 €.
Sales Tax: Included in sales price.
Trading Hours: Mon, Wed & Sat 08:30-14:30. Tue, Thu & Fri 08:30-14:00, 17:30-20:00. Souvenir / Tourist shops normally stay open all day.
Restaurant Hours: 12:00-01:00, last food orders midnight.
Bars & Cafe’s Hours: These range from 12:00-06:00.
Taxis: Dark Blue or Silver Grey Cars, get a quote first. Taxi drivers are the same all over the world.
Public Transport: Blue Buses operate only within a 12km radius from Corfu Town. Green Buses cover the rest of the island.
Speed Limits: 50kph in residential areas & 70kph on the main roads.
Pharmacies: Open during shop hours. There is always one open in town at night & Sunday’s.
Electricity: Greece has 220V, 50AC electric current
Tap water: Although safe, bottled water tastes much better.
